Infants

Parents of infants will be required to bring a large bag or box of diapers and diaper wipes.  we change diapers once every 2 hours or sooner as needed.  The diaper-changing table is located in the west bed-room, and has a drawer designated for each child’s diapers and supplies. The changing table has a pad that is impervious to moisture and is disinfected after each use.  Soiled diapers are disposed of in a diaper pail next to the changing table.  Hands are washed directly before and after changing child’s diaper.

Infants will be napping in portable cribs.  They will have fresh mattress covers and firm mattresses.  Current recommendations for SIDS prevention procedures are as follows:

1.                  Infants should always sleep on their backs

2.                  Non-smoking environment

3.                  Baby should not be too hot or too cold

4.                  Mattress should be firm

5.                  No loose bedding, stuffed animal or other items in bed

6.                  Infant’s head and face must remain uncovered during sleep.

7.                  Infant must not be allowed to get too warm during napping.

8.                  Infant will sleep on their own schedule

Toddlers

When the parents decide it is time to try toilet training, then we begin.  We have always used a step stool in the past, however, if your child feels more comfortable with a little potty chair, then that’s what we will do.  we have always believed that the parent or caregiver is trained first, then the child.  When potty training starts in earnest, parents will need to supply us with either pull-ups or training pants.  Approximately every 20 minutes or so, we will ask the child if he/she needs to use the potty.  Then supervise him/her when using the toilet.  After each use of the toilet training equipment we will disinfect the equipment.

WE RESPECT AND WILL FACILITATE THE RIGHTS OF YOUR CHILD IN OUR CARE TO OBSERVE THE TENETS OF YOUR CHILD’S FAITH.  WE WILL NOT PUNISH OR DISCOURAGE ANY CHILD FOR EXERCISING THESE RIGHTS.

Since Robert and I are Christians, we do pray before meals and when the children take naps.  We also play Christian music and teach the children Bible songs.  We also do Sunday school type materials and read stories from the Bible and other stories of faith.  We celebrate Christmas as Jesus’ birth and Easter as His resurrection.

As stated in the above paragraph, we do not discriminate concerning religious beliefs.  More in the way of non-discrimination:

Buttons & Bows prohibits discrimination of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, marital status, age or the presence of any sensory, mental or physical disability or use of a trained guide dog or other certified service animal by a disabled person.”
